How #TeamNextdoor Celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day 2022

Written by Nicole Atkins

Kindness is core to our purpose at Nextdoor: to cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood to rely on. We even chose it as our ticker on the NYSE to be KIND. We believe a little kindness goes a long way towards making life easier, neighborhoods stronger, and the world a better place. You can imagine our team’s excitement as we celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day this year on Thursday, February 17th.

The smallest acts of kindness can make big waves in our community, especially during the pandemic as neighbors struggle with feelings of loneliness and isolation. We encouraged neighbors on Nextdoor to take part and do some good in their local communities, and we were thrilled to see the ways our employees participated as well! Check out some of the random acts of kindness from #TeamNextdoor.

“Today I wrote out some notes and placed them around a nearby park in my neighborhood! Spreading kindness before Random Acts of Kindness Day.” Christina, Communications Coordinator

“There is a mobile coffee truck that comes through my neighborhood on Friday mornings and makes 5 stops in my neighborhood. Each week I make a point to visit a different stop so I can get to know more neighbors. To promote Random Acts of Kindness day last Friday, I arranged to pay for all the coffees in my neighborhood and the next neighborhood over.  So when neighbors went to buy their coffee the owners told them that a neighbor wanted to remind everyone about Random Acts of Kindness and asked that they use Thursday 17 February to pay forward with kindness to others.” James, Executive Assistant

“Cookie delivery for my kids’ school and preschool teachers!” Timea, Head of Sales Enablement

“Treated the car behind me at Tim Hortons to breakfast for RAK.” Also, Tim Hortons is pretty good” Shane, Data Scientist

“We were out and about in Atlanta with an Atlanta Maker blessing folks with gas, groceries, and anything else we come across that folks need. We also sponsored an event for an org called Bridge of Light, they have a mobile bus that serves unhoused neighbors across the city. Later today, they’ll be passing out underwear, sweatpants, socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, wash cloths, soap and snack bags for 75 people thanks to our donation.” Renee’, Community Manager

“It’s 60 degrees here in New York (!!) My neighbors and I decided to clear out our respective bookshelves and leave books on our stoop for anyone to take. Quite the variety. They’re going fast!” Iman, Head of Communications

“Prepaid for a few coffees! Happy RAK!” Caty, Head of Community

Our team really came together on shared love for Random Acts of Kindness Day and their communities. The day was very uplifting for those who went out in their neighborhoods and an act of kindness, no matter how big or small, and at Nextdoor we remind each other every day brings new opportunities to be kind to others.
