Meet Bonnie, our Places and Experiences Lead! Read more to learn about her time at Nextdoor.
Why did you join Nextdoor?
Nextdoor first stood out to me because of its core values in being kind and investing in community. When I interviewed and got to meet with the team, I was even more excited, because it was apparent that Nextdoor is a people first company, which really resonated with me. Everyone was so warm, welcoming, and super willing to help. Joining Nextdoor has been nothing short of amazing.
What has been one of your favorite projects to work on?
My favorite project has been coordinating Traffic Weeks, where one week out of the month, we host more events and activities for employees to enjoy in person. These weeks encourage in-person collaboration, team building, and inclusivity. I love planning exciting and impactful events to create a sense of community for employees, and bring culture into the workplace. I am so lucky I get to witness first-hand all the fun and connections that come out of Traffic Weeks.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Traveling – I love to travel to new places and try new food. #FoodieLife
Most memorable moment at Nextdoor?
Thus far, I would have to say when our CEO gave kudos to my team and I at our first live All Hands regarding Traffic Week. It was special and made me feel valued.
Best career advice?
Don’t be afraid to share and accept feedback. Honest and real time feedback has helped me so much in my career, and outside of it. Also, never settle – do what you love, and make sure you are valued, no matter what it is you’re doing.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
Hard to pick just one, but I would say Costa Rica.
BONUS: What is your favorite way to give back to your local community?
Currently Sock Drives! Not many people know this, but socks are the #1 clothing needed for people experiencing homelessness. My friends and I have hosted a Sock Drive before, and I like to donate socks whenever I can.
