At Nextdoor, we believe in the power of volunteerism to cultivate community, foster connection, and bring meaningful change. That’s why we are thrilled to announce the formation of our newest employee interest group, Volunteers at Nextdoor (V@N).
V@N’s mission is clear: to cultivate community, connection, and meaning through volunteerism at Nextdoor, aligning with our overall purpose. We firmly believe that by working together, we can create a positive ripple effect that extends beyond our company walls and into the world.
V@N is committed to organizing and hosting both in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities for Nextdoor employees around the globe. We recognize that every employee has unique skills, passions, and interests, and we want to provide avenues for them to make a difference in causes they care about.
By offering diverse volunteer opportunities, V@N aims to create an inclusive space where everyone feels empowered to contribute in their own way. The creation of V@N complements our annual company-wide volunteer event, Nextdoor in the Neighborhood Day, as it provides employees with more frequent opportunities to give back to communities throughout the year.
This month, V@N kicked off their first event in San Francisco with GLIDE, “a nationally recognized center for social justice, dedicated to fighting systemic injustices, creating pathways out of poverty and crisis, and transforming lives.” It was an absolute success! The V@N team boxed up and handed out over 550 lunches and enjoyed the chance to connect with neighbors in the community. Our V@N members are looking forward to continuing to make a meaningful difference and positively contributing to the lives of others.
