Meet Jayme Farrell-Ranker, our lead product manager for the revenue team. Read more to learn about her time at Nextdoor.
Why did you join Nextdoor?
I joined Nextdoor for two reasons: mission and opportunity. I believe communities can have a huge impact on people’s lives with Nextdoor playing a pivotal role in facilitating connections in a community. Nextdoor is still at the beginning of its journey with an enormous amount of growth ahead.
What has been one of your favorite projects to work on?
My favorite project that I’ve worked on thus far is building out our proprietary ad server. It’s up there for one of the most challenging products I’ve worked on in my career. We’re literally standing up an ad server from nothing while navigating the challenges of ensuring our existing customers aren’t impacted by the migration. We can see the impact it’s having on the business on an almost daily basis so it’s making all the challenges worth it.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I’m a pretty stereotypical San Francisco gal. Some of my favorite things include traveling, being active outside, and GOOD coffee.
Most memorable moment at Nextdoor?
When my engineering team sang me “happy birthday” during our team stand-up. It was the worst tuned rendition I’ve ever heard with the differing bandwidths, but it was the most endearing and hilarious gift I could have asked for.
Best career advice?
Get out of your own way.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
Favorite place: Japan. Most underrated: Kyrgyzstan. Best Hike: Trolltunga in Norway.
What is your favorite way to give back to your local community?
I especially love getting involved in community programs around the holidays. My favorites are the gift drives through Compass Family Services and Elf for an Elder with Little Brothers: Friends of the Elderly.
