Employee Spotlight: Meet Anne-Sophie

Written by #TeamNextdoor

Meet Anne-Sophie Bouygues Sondén, our Country Lead for France. Read more to learn about her time at Nextdoor.

Why did you join Nextdoor?

I joined Nextdoor because of its commitment to connecting people, fostering community support, and creating local online experiences that extend into the offline world. I wanted to contribute to the development of such a project to help cultivate a kinder world and, in my own way, combat unwanted loneliness. The platform’s vision aligned with these aspirations, strengthening my commitment.

What has been one of your favorite projects to work on?

One of my favorite projects was during my previous role as Head of Communications for Southern Europe, where I spearheaded a partnership with the Observatory of Unwanted Loneliness, founded by the ONCE Foundation in Spain. This initiative unveiled the widespread issue of loneliness, a cause Nextdoor is deeply committed to. This partnership shed light on the fact that loneliness, costing 14 billion euros in Spain, extends beyond just the elderly, affecting an increasing number of young people, and those facing difficulties (health, finances, and more). By leveraging these insights, we brought the topic to the forefront of media discussions in Spain, raising awareness and prompting other countries to address this societal challenge and take action.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m a pretty basic person! I love spending time with my friends, husband, and dog, and discovering new places. Above all, I’m a real travel enthusiast: I have lived in 4 different countries and enjoy getting to know people and learning about different cultures. Additionally, I’m a dedicated Pilates addict. Incorporating Pilates into my routine not only keeps me physically active but also contributes to my overall well-being. It’s a practice I’m truly passionate about and find both energizing and fulfilling. I’m also a true fan of fashion, and when it comes to shopping, it’s hard to keep me away—whether it’s online or in the bustling city streets.

Most memorable moment at Nextdoor?

Without a doubt, one of the most memorable moments at Nextdoor was during our offsite events in Barcelona and Amsterdam. In a full remote work setup, having the chance to spend time with my colleagues, create lasting memories, and build genuine connections while exploring new cities was truly special. It not only strengthened our team dynamics but also allowed us to share unique experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie even in a virtual work environment.

Best career advice?

Embrace feedback as a gift for personal and professional growth, surround yourself with the right people, trust your instincts, don’t be afraid to ask seemingly ‘stupid’ questions, and most importantly, forge your own path!

Where is your favorite place in the world?

There is no better place than home!
