Invest in Community: Nextdoor in the Neighborhood Day 2023

Written by #TeamNextdoor

At Nextdoor, we strongly believe in the power of community. To actively fulfill our mission of cultivating a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on, we dedicate ourselves to investing in the communities that hold significant importance to us.

One of our core values at Nextdoor is “Invest in Community” and “Nextdoor in the Neighborhood Day,” a global, company-wide day of service, is one of our Nextdoor traditions that brings teams across the world together to volunteer their time to causes that matter in our neighborhoods.

This year, we’re proud that we had over 300 employees across 14 locations, plus those joining remotely, participate in volunteer efforts to support 15 non-profit organizations focusing on important social issues including houselessness, food insecurity, and mental health.

Check out some of the ways our employees gave back:

At our HQ in San Francisco, Team Nextdoor employees engaged in a local street cleanup and gathered together for Code Tenderloin’s community health worker graduation ceremony celebrating front line workers improving our neighborhood.

In New York, our team collaborated with Urban Pathways to provide support in maintaining and preserving the yards surrounding housing units for homeless and at-risk homeless individuals.

In Toronto, our Team Nextdoor volunteers worked with Clean Toronto Together to beautify local downtown parks.

For those volunteering remotely, our team spent time virtually speed mentoring with Code Tenderloin for underserved communities in San Francisco.

We take immense pride in being a part of an organization that wholeheartedly invests in our communities and partners with exceptional non-profit organizations that played a pivotal role in making this day a success. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue our efforts of giving back to local communities all over the world.
